Its taken me longer than it should have to launch this website. I spent well over a month agonizing over little details and obsessing over each little thing. (Actually, its taken me over a year too long to launch this website, but that’s a different story.)
In all that obsessing, I forgot one very important detail – websites don’t have to be perfect. They are fluid, constantly evolving objects that get better with time (and feedback).
As someone who makes objects, you may be used to refining and refining until its perfect before you make it available to the public. But if you’re waiting to launch your website, or blog, or Etsy shop until its perfect, or until the perfect time, then you’re losing valuable time. Every day online is a chance to gain an audience, get feedback, make a connection, and build your brand.
So what are you waiting for – give it one last check for typos and bad links and let it go. The time is now! Everything else can be improved as you go along.
